Gulf Coast Runners is proud to have
awarded $730,000 over the past 29 years to local high school student-athletes.
The Gulf Coast Runners would like to assist and reward seniors involved in the Collier County running programs by providing academic scholarship grants. Students applying for the Gulf Coast Runners Scholarship will have the chance to earn money for their college/trade school education.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include at least two years running either high school cross country or track (minimum distance of 1600). In addition to the student’s involvement with running, the scholarship committee pays particular attention to the student’s degree of community volunteerism, involvement with Gulf Coast Runners, and academic achievement. We are not necessarily looking for the best or the fastest runners; we are looking for the student’s enthusiasm for running. Financial need is also considered.
Rubric
The attached RUBRIC will be used to score each applicant’s submission. Questions will be evaluated and scored accordingly. Additionally, all finalists may be interviewed by a Gulf Coast Runners Scholarship Committee member.
Timeline
Scholarship recipients will be recognized at their school’s awards ceremony.
